Technophilia

Hello, I finally remembered the login to this website, silly me I should have saved it.
I know it's a big jump to go from the topic of sleeping to transhumanism and technophilia of all things, but that's what has most recently been on my mind for a good while.
I'm not for it at all.

The final turning point for me was this Apple Vision pro thing. People walking around like it's normal. That's really what bothers me. Or that one video where it's two guys sitting
eating while both wearing the headset, just not talking to eachother and entirely focused on the headset. I wonder how the conversation for that lunch/dinner/whatever went.
"You wanna go get something to eat?"
"Of course, I'm starving!"
They proceed to go get food, they order together, both sit down, say nothing to eachother, put on their machine prisons and don't talk for the rest of the meal.

This is worse than people who go get food together and then just sit on their phones the whole time even though they can talk to eachother. But it's not just the Apple Vision that I have a problem with.
It's that Neuralink stuff. You're really giving a company unfettered access to your brain? You're okay with this? And I know what you might be thinking:
"Mr. Deliverance, why are you being so hypocritical? You're writing this entry on technology that would have been scary to people 50 years ago and now is commonplace!"
and to this I say:
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE.
I am completely fine with technology until it becomes more than a tool, the point where it becomes an extension of what it means to be a human is where I draw the line, and by golly the line is drawn.
It has been drawn and stepped over.

When I first saw a clip of a guy walking around with an Apple Vision I was reminded of that one scene from Serial Experiments Lain, where there's this guy hooked up to a bunch of different things and he's walking around town murmuring to himself about having blurred the lines between the real world and the wired (the internet basically), and every single time I see one of these people that guy is all I can think of. There's definetly a lot more I can say and a lot more I want to say but it's getting late. Maybe eventually I'll create a whole entry dedicated solely to why I dislike this stuff so much
(fair warning it will sound absolutely unhinged), but that's for another time.
